Rachael is present in most every issue of Simply Moderne since her quilt Bubbles made the cover of no. 1, but how can one resist her charm, her talent and the joy that radiates from all her quilts?
As a small Christmas gift, Rachael is offering you her playful Undercover Colour to make, which could almost be an Advent calendar as each small pocket can be lifted to discover a fun print on the lining; you could modify it by adding a little trinket to hide underneath or a love note for your sweetie!
Speaking of love, the one who makes Rachael’s eyes gleam is Mr. Daisy; hence her stage name Rachaeldaisy! They live in their small love-nest in the Blue Mountains about an hour west of Sydney.

In the 1970s, in the time of Barbie dolls, there was no question of dressing them in store-bought clothes. Anna Maria delved into her mother’s fabric scraps to create their wardrobe, needless to say original.
Not surprisingly, a little later she chose arts for her university program! In 1995, with her diploma in hand she opened Handmaiden, a clothing and housewares shop that, as its name indicates, was stocked with items entirely made by Anna Maria and her mother.
Multi-talented Anna Maria has a gift for sewing, embroidery and painting; in short, she was born with a needle in one hand and a paintbrush in the other. In spite of the frantic pace of garment production, she always set aside time for all other forms of expression and regularly exhibited her paintings in galleries; they are now found in private collections.
All the roads that she has taken, whether fashion, quilting or painting, have been informed by the same source: colour, whose language completely fascinates her.
