Luke Haynes is a talented young artist who came to the world of quilts a little more than six years ago. He has been knitting from a very young age and studied architecture and art, which gave him the words; he only had to found the music, the material, and through fabric and quilts he found the means of expressing himself. He left Seattle and has lived in Los Angeles for two and a half years, moving there in order to find in the City of Angels more opportunities for his art. In L.A. he was soon noticed and exhibited in art galleries and solo shows.
Carolyn Friedlander grew up on a farm in Florida where her family raised cattle and grew citrus. Whenever she had free time she drew, painted and sewed before leaving for university in St. Louis, Missouri, where she studied design and architecture. After a brief foray into the professional architecture world, she decided to seek a future that would give free rein to her creativity, make the most of her design abilities and above all, allow her to work with her hands!
Elizabeth Hartman lives in Portland, Oregon at the edge of the Pacific Ocean. As far back as she can remember her family was always making things. When she grew up she decided to become an illustrator, but after her schooling she spent 10 years in the commercial mortgage field. As a twenty-first birthday gift she received a sewing machine with which she sewed many clothing items for her friends and she embroidered patches for school sports uniforms while attending university.
