In this very retro first name a small joke is hidden!
In this very retro first name a small joke is hidden: one day Cathi Bessell-Browne was complaining to her father that he had called her Cathi, which she thought a very ordinary name. He immediately replied, laughing, “Don’t complain, as you were almost called Gertrude!” She never forgot this story and when she needed to fi nd a ‘stage name’ for her business, she didn’t have to look further!
On her business card, under Gertrude Made, it says dressmaker, designer and farmer!
Raised on the family farm, Cathi never left the immense stretches of the outback of Western Australia where along with her husband she runs a farm of 7000 sheep.
Her Nana taught her to sew, with patience and care and Cathi is very grateful to her for this, as she has had a passion for sewing ever since.
Cathi loves to sew dresses that she says make women feel beautiful inside and out.
