It was a veritable immersion in this past, rich in culture and traditions that we were fortunate to experience and we warmly thank our three charming hostesses for having shared their passion with us for an afternoon.
There were three charming people waiting for us at Wilma’s home: Wilma herself, her mother Loes and Els Van Diermen-Beukers, their friend who was dressed in traditional Spakenburg clothing.
Wilma and her mother have been collecting vintage Dutch fabrics for about 16 years, combing through flea markets and annual sales at the local church to find these prints of the garments that have now become a rare commodity!
Their friend Els knows all about these traditional prints. As an expert, she wears them every day, like a lot of people in this little town!
